HALF DAY PROGRAM
"GET YOUR WRITING STARTED … AND KEEP GOING"
September 9, 2006

The Writers Corner USA at 4 West Oakland Avenue, Doylestown PA 18901 will hold at writing workshop on Saturday, September 9. Designed to help anyone who wants to get into the writing business, and stay in. The program will be hosted by Writers Corner USA partner and best-selling author Jonathan Maberry. Jonathan, well known in the area as a writing teacher and coach, has teamed up with Jerry Waxler, a therapist, author and regular workshop leader.

The program, titled "Get your writing started … and keep going" will offer lessons based on Jonathan's in-depth experience in the writing business, followed by Jerry's insights into how to overcome the internal obstacles that get in the way of success.

In the first part of the program, "Get Started," Jonathan will teach students how to shape the germ of an idea, organize it, and then get the ball rolling to create a saleable piece of top-quality writing. In this section, students will learn:

How to organize a writing project
How to identify your target audience
How to select the proper market for your work
How to map out a project so that each step is stress-free and successful
How to set a sane and effective daily page count
How to organize research and writing materials
And how to get the ball rolling!

In the second part of the program, "Keep Going," Jerry will offer methods to overcome blocks, push through procrastination, and sustain desire for the long haul. In this section, students will learn:

How to stay motivated
How to defeat (and avoid) Writers Block
How to laugh at procrastination
How to work with cycles
How to harness desire for long-term goals
And how to harness the delights of the creative mind.

Jonathan Maberry
Jonathan Maberry is a professional writer and writing teacher. Since 1979 he's sold more than 900 articles, sixteen nonfiction books, three novels, as well as numerous short stories, poetry, song lyrics, video scripts, and two plays. Jonathan is Executive Director of The Career Doctor for Writers, which provides workshops, classes and editorial services for writers of all genres. Jonathan is a frequent speaker at writers' conferences, where his most common lecture topic is on how to break into the writing business. Jonathan is a Board Member of the Philadelphia Writers Conference, a writing mentor for the HWA (Horror Writers Association), and a member of the National Writers Union. Jerry Waxler, M.S. is a workshop leader and therapist who specializes in helping writers achieve their goals.
